What a recovery - Daniel scores second race podium!

Daniel Erickson once again showed his Aussie fighting spirit in Round 23 of the British Formula Ford Championship at Brands Hatch today. He put the disappointment of his Round 22 non-finish* behind him to score a magnificent third place!

In his first race meeting on the daunting 'Grand Prix' circuit, Daniel came within a whisker of grabbing second place from Rogier de Wit. He shadowed the Dutch driver across the finish line by just 0.079 seconds.

The 12-lap, 44km race was won by American Josef Newgarden, who escaped his battling pursuers to clean-sweep the meeting's two BFFC rounds.

Typically, Daniel was more frustrated not to have placed second than satisfied with his recovery from the disastrous result earlier in the day. "It was a tough battle with Rogier. Second place should have been mine, but I just couldn't get past him."

The result moved Daniel 25 points closer to being the top-placed 2009 British Formula Ford debutant in the championship. He now has 371 points, just seven points away from fifth place with two rounds remaining at Castle Combe on October 3.
