The Goodwood Revival is the world’s most popular historic motor race meeting, and the only event of its kind. Staged each September at Goodwood near Chichester, approx. 100km south of London, the Revival celebrates the historic circuit's glory days from the late-1940s until the mid-1960s.

 

But this is no static display. There's a full program of car and motorcycle racing, featuring priceless classic machines driven flat-out around the original high-speed 3.8km racetrack.

 

Each Revival race bears a famous name from motorsport history, such as the Brooklands Trophy and the Woodcote Cup. They're contested by classic machines bearing famous insignia - some long-gone, such as Allard, Brabham, BSA, Cooper, ERA, Matchless and Talbot-Lago, as well as marques that continue today, such as Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Lola, Maserati, Norton and Lotus.

 

Many of these mouth-watering machines are driven by past and present champions and leading motorsport industry figures. Competitors at the 2011 Revival included Rauno Aaltonen, Derek Bell, Gerhard Berger, Stig Blomqvist, Martin Brundle, Eddie Cheever, Mick Grant, Christian Horner, Emanuele Pirro, Andrew Pitt, Andy Priaulx, Paul Radisich, Derek and Don Rickman and Vern Schuppan.

 

Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Win Percy attended as special guests.

 

But the Revival is far more than races for historic cars.  It's a magical step back in time; a chance to revel in the romance of motor racing as it used to be. Not only is the circuit unchanged from its heyday, but the entire venue is maintained in near-original form. In fact, modern vehicles are prohibited within the circuit perimeter during the weekend.

 

Theatrical sets bring the past back to life, and historic aircraft perform stunning aerial manoeuvres above this former World War 2 aerodrome. The Freddie March ‘Spirit of Aviation’ display features a selection of rare pre-1966 aircraft. Many Revival visitors get into the spirit of the event, wearing clothing from the era.

* TEAM ERICKSON 2012 GOODWOOD REVIVAL MEMBERS' PRIZE DRAW TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

  1. The prize includes $4000 to be used to book return flights and accommodation for two persons to the 2012 Goodwood Revival; and two three-day passes to the 2012 Goodwood Revival (September 14-16).
  2. The prize winners are liable for other costs, such as airport transfers, additional spending money, meals, taxes, insurance, official documents, and other accommodation costs, extra services, restaurant and bar charges.
  3. The two persons nominated by the prize winner must travel together on their flights to and from the 2012 Goodwood Revival.
  4. The prize, including all extras, must be taken as stated, and is not exchangeable, redeemable for cash or other goods or services, or transferrable to other persons.
  5. The winner will not receive compensation if he/she is unable to use the prize.
  6. The flight booking dates may not be changed after the tickets have been issued.
  7. Entries are due to close on Wednesday June 27, 2012, and the prize is due to be drawn on Saturday June 30, 2012. These dates may be varied if Team Erickson deems it necessary.
  8. The winning ticket holder will be notified promptly after the draw by email, or failing that by phone.
  9. The winning ticket holder's name, suburb, State/Territory and country will be posted on danielerickson.com.au promptly after the prize draw.

 

 


The Team Erickson members' V8 Race Drive prize draw was held on October 29, 2011, and the winner is Mark Golding (ticket number 0175). Second prize goes to Mark Fogarty (ticket number 0510), and third prize goes to Scott Kennedy (ticket number 0257).
